Trails through Burnham Beeches with the Mona Lisa Arts and Media Project

Burnham - The most southerly point
of our journey
The second stop on Friday is actually the most southerly point of the entire journey, in the area of Burnham.

Established in 2009 by local artist Rhonda Fenwick, the Mona Lisa Arts & Media project uses arts as a vehicle for community development by helping establish local initiatives that enhance the physical and /or social environment or develop a renewed sense of community spirit and community pride by bringing people together to to work in co-operation.

They also promote, for the benefit of communities, all or any purposes which now are or may in the future be deemed charitable and in particular the advancement  of education, the protection of health and relief of poverty, distress and sickness.

Most recently, the people involved with the project have focused their work on the Olympics and Paralympics, which has culminated in The Windows Walls & Wishes and Olympic Angels 2012 Visual Arts Project. The local community and schools, from both the Burnham area and surrounding parts have been involved with this particular project since 2009 and all their hard work has paid off as the project, in recognition of its work, has been awarded the Inspire Mark by LOCOG (London Organising Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games).
