Finishing Day 2 on a Ride High

Great Brickhill's Location
Our 4th and final stop for Monday 17th is at Ride High based in Great Brickhill at Bryerleys Spring Farm. Ride High is a local charity organisation in Milton Keynes that works with children from disadvantaged backgrounds and those having difficulties in their everyday lives.

Through the use of horses and ponies, Ride High sets out to build a child’s confidence and self-esteem by giving them the opportunity to learn how to ride the animals and look after and care for them.

Through weekly sessions Ride High aims to help the participating children become more attuned to their own possibilities and opportunities, and go on to contribute more fully and constructively to the world around them.

Many studies have provided evidence to show that children who are angry, hurt, upset, lonely or underprivileged can benefit enormously through contact with horses.

The most convincing evidence, however, is the results themselves and the difference in the children who have attended. Whereas before some of the children where difficult, frequently abusive and unkind, they are now engaged, polite and happy.

One teacher who has several pupils from her school attend Ride High commented: “These children are nicer people because of Ride High”.

The opportunities that Ride High provide are life changing and effect the lives of young children and their families forever.
